दुनिया भर में बलात्कार के दर्ज मामलों के आंकड़े
What can be compared across countries? The most widely available measure is police-recorded rape cases per 100,000 people, shown with each country’s data year. It measures reporting and recording as well as violence.
This dashboard shows a selected 30-country view spanning high, middle and low reported rates.
देश के अनुसार दर्ज बलात्कार दर
Reported rape cases per 100,000 population, with each source year shown. These are police-recorded rates, not estimates of true prevalence.
In this selected comparison, England & Wales has the highest displayed rate at 117.3 reported cases per 100,000. This does not prove that rape is most prevalent there.

सबसे ज़्यादा बनाम सबसे कम दर्ज बलात्कार दर
A visual comparison of selected highest and lowest police-reported rape rates per 100,000 population, with the source year shown under each country.
Lowest does not mean safest. Very low reported rates usually reflect underreporting, stigma, barriers to police access and narrow legal definitions—not an absence of sexual violence. High reported rates often reflect broader definitions and better reporting and recording systems.
कितनों को सज़ा मिलती है? (देश अनुसार)
Selected published justice-stage outcomes. Each bar states its own denominator because countries do not measure this consistently.
USA: 28 of every 1,000 sexual assaults led to a felony conviction in the cited RAINN synthesis. England & Wales: 843 of 52,210 police-recorded rapes led to a charge or summons—not a conviction.
These bars are not strictly comparable. India’s 24.4% is convictions among trials completed, South Africa’s figure is a published estimate of perpetrators convicted, the US figure starts from an estimated 1,000 sexual assaults, and England & Wales measures charges or summonses from police-recorded rapes. At every stage—reporting, charge, trial and conviction—large numbers of cases leave the justice process.

पुरुष पीड़ित — आंकड़ों में छिपी हकीकत
Male victimization is rarely captured consistently. Survey estimates reveal harm that police-recorded rape statistics—especially India’s—often cannot show.
About 1 in 33 American men have experienced an attempted or completed rape during their lifetime.
RAINN · CDC · US Department of Justice estimatesAbout 275,000 men aged 16 and over experienced sexual assault, including attempts, in the previous year.
UK survey estimate · men aged 16+NCRB does not publish a separate count of male rape victims. Under India’s IPC and BNS rape provisions, the victim is defined as a woman, leaving male victimization invisible in official rape data.
NCRB · IPC / BNS legal definitionSevere underreporting: one estimate suggests only around 5% of male victims ever report. Stigma, shame and fear of disbelief mean these survey-based figures should be treated as conservative—not as the full scale of victimization. The US lifetime figure and UK past-year figure use different time periods and should not be directly compared.

Survey data consistently shows a disproportionate burden of sexual violence, alongside major barriers to reporting and fair treatment.

CDC · NISVSSurvey estimates, not police totals. Most countries do not record a victim’s sexual orientation or gender identity in crime statistics. These figures come from surveys and may still understate the true scale because disclosure and sampling barriers remain.

Rajasthan recorded the highest count in 2024 with 4,871 cases, followed by Uttar Pradesh (3,209), Maharashtra (3,091) and Madhya Pradesh (3,061). Population size, reporting access and police recording practices differ, so counts are not a direct risk ranking.

दुनिया और भारत के आंकड़ों पर अक्सर पूछे जाने वाले सवाल
Short answers about reported country rates, international comparability and India’s NCRB figures.
NCRB registered 29,536 rape cases in 2024, equal to about 80.7 cases per day—roughly 81.
Police registered 29,536 rape cases across India in 2024.
Rajasthan had the highest absolute count among States and UTs shown, with 4,871 registered cases.
International compilations place India at approximately 1.8–2.2 reported cases per 100,000, depending on the year and source.
UNODC-based compilations put the United States at approximately 38–41 reported cases per 100,000 population.
The 2024 conviction rate was 24.4% among rape trials completed during the year.
NCRB data for 2023 reported that 97.5% of accused persons were known to the victim.
Yes, recorded statistics cover only cases reported to and registered by police. Stigma, fear, social pressure and access barriers mean the actual number is likely higher.
No. Countries use different definitions and reporting systems, many cases are never reported, and not every country supplies comparable data.
Broader legal definitions, separate counting of repeated incidents, stronger reporting access and more complete police recording can all raise the reported rate.
A low police-recorded rate does not establish low prevalence. Underreporting, stigma, access barriers, legal definitions and recording practices all influence the number.
“Sexual assault” is generally a broader statistical category that can include rape and other non-consensual sexual contact. Definitions vary by country and agency, so the figures should not be mixed without checking scope.
US sources include the FBI’s police-recorded crime data and the Bureau of Justice Statistics victimization surveys. RAINN explains these sources and reports that only about 310 of every 1,000 sexual assaults are reported to police.
Not directly. Canada, Australia, the United States and other countries publish broader sexual-assault measures that do not match the UNODC rape-rate definition used in the country table.
In the displayed UNODC-based selection, England & Wales has the highest rate at 117.3 reported cases per 100,000 (2022). This is not a prevalence or safety ranking.
Saudi Arabia has the lowest figure in this selected 30-country view at approximately 0.1 reported cases per 100,000; the compilation does not state the source year. Such a low rate can reflect underreporting, legal definitions and recording barriers—not safety.
RAINN’s US justice-stage synthesis says 28 of every 1,000 sexual assaults lead to a felony conviction—2.8%. This starts from estimated sexual assaults, not only police reports.
The cited 2020 Home Office figures show 843 charges or summonses from 52,210 recorded rapes, or 1.6%. This is a charge rate, not a conviction rate.
Not strictly. Published percentages use different starting points, including all assaults, police-recorded cases, charges and completed trials. Each figure must be read with its denominator.
